1. Introduction
Nextstar Training College (“Nextstar”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and CRICOS-registered provider delivering nationally accredited vocational education and training in building and construction trades to domestic and international students.
We are committed to protecting the privacy of personal information we collect from students, prospective students, education agents, staff, and website visitors, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and relevant education sector requirements, including the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000, the National Code, and the Standards for RTOs.

- Government and identification documents — passport details, visa information, Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) details, and other identifiers required for CRICOS/international student compliance
- Financial information — payment details, fee records, refund requests (processed via secure third-party payment providers)
- Health and support information — disability, medical, or welfare information you choose to disclose so we can provide reasonable adjustments or student support services
- Agent and referral information — where you enrol through an education agent, information provided by that agent on your behalf
- Website and technical data — IP address, browser type, pages visited, and cookies collected through our website
- Employment and background information — for staff, trainers, and job applicants, resumes, qualifications, and referee details
We only collect sensitive information (such as health information) with your consent, or where otherwise permitted by law.

Where practicable, we collect information directly from the individual. In some cases, we may collect information from third parties such as education agents, previous training providers, or government bodies (e.g. the Department of Home Affairs, training.gov.au) where necessary for enrolment, compliance, or verification purposes.

We collect and use personal information to:
- Process enrolment applications and manage your training and assessment
- Issue Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and meet CRICOS/ESOS obligations for international students
- Report to regulatory bodies such as the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), the Department of Home Affairs, and training.gov.au
- Provide student support services, including welfare and disability support
- Communicate with you about your course, results, fees, and college updates
- Process payments and manage fee records
- Maintain accurate records as required under the Standards for RTOs and ESOS legislative framework
- Respond to enquiries and manage our relationship with education agents
- Improve our website, courses, and services
- Comply with legal and regulatory obligations
5. Disclosure of Personal Information
We may disclose personal information to:
- Government and regulatory bodies, including ASQA, the Department of Home Affairs (including via PRISMS), the National VET Data Collection, and training.gov.au, as required by law or regulatory obligation
- Education agents involved in your enrolment
- Third-party service providers who assist us with IT systems, student management systems, payment processing, and communications, under confidentiality obligations
- Other education or training providers, where required for credit transfer, transfer of enrolment, or compliance purposes
- Emergency services or support agencies where necessary to protect health or safety
- Anyone else you have authorised us to disclose information to
We do not sell personal information to third parties. Some of our service providers may store or process data outside Australia (for example, cloud-based student management or IT systems); where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information remains protected consistently with the APPs.
6. International Students
As a CRICOS-registered provider, we are required under the ESOS framework to collect, hold, and disclose certain personal information about international students to the Department of Home Affairs and other government agencies, including via the PRISMS system, to comply with our regulatory obligations. This may include enrolment, attendance, and course progress information.

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to improve functionality and understand how visitors use our site.
